Kaļķupe river valley and Puiškalns hill

Kaļķupe river valley is situated halfway from Dundaga to Kolka and here is one of the largest castle mounds in North Kurzeme – Puiškalns hill. The length of Puiškalns hill is 30 by 80 metres; in the southwestern side of it there is a 4 metres high dam. The deep Kaļķupe and Mazupe river valleys bound the 23 metres high castle mound from 3 sides, but on the slopes of the cape there are lots of steep sandstone cliffs.
