Dundaga evangelical lutheran church
Dundaga church was built in 1766, and its patron was Carl von der Osten-Sacken. It is a rectangle single-aisle masonry church with a polygonal choir, sacristy and a highly square bell tower with polygonal spire. The church experienced repairs and rebuildings in 1882, 1897, 1934-1936 and also in 2004.
The furnishings of the church are made in sober Rococo style interpretation and are regarded as important monuments of monumentally decorative art. The year number "1766" on the master's pew indicates when exactly the furnishings of the church were made. Altar painting "The Easter Morning" by Janis Rozentāls harmonizes with the altar of the second part of 18th century. The traditional biblical story is interpreted using specific Latvian features, characters and Latvian landscape.
Very interesting and sonorous is the organ that was made by Latvian peasant Ansis Dinsberģis (1817-1893) in 1859. There is also a tablet (1935) dedicated to the parishioners that were killed in the World War I. The graveyard is surrounded with a plastered boulder fence that is covered with tiles and has an arched gate.
The church keeps some valuable relics: a bible (1689) with splendid covering and inscription - Carl von der Osten Sacken ordered to bind it; and a guest book with inscription - a present from president Kārlis Ulmanis in 1936.
